Delhi’s Water Revolution: 1,111 Tech-Tanks Take on Mafia

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a significant initiative on Sunday, April 20, 2025, to combat the city’s water tanker mafia. From Burari’s DDA Ground, 1,111 GPS-enabled water tankers were flagged off.

This ambitious project aims to bring transparency and accountability to Delhi’s water supply system. Real-time tracking of water distribution will be possible through the technology deployed in these tankers.

CM Gupta hailed the launch as a historic moment in Delhi’s fight for equitable water access. She emphasized the government’s commitment to using technology to improve governance and curb illegal activities.

The initiative is expected to significantly impact the lives of Delhiites, particularly those residing in areas facing water scarcity. The real-time tracking will allow for better monitoring of water distribution, preventing shortages and ensuring that water reaches those who need it most. This move promises a much-needed crackdown on the exploitative practices of the tanker mafia.
