Mahadev app case: ED conducts searches in several cities; seizes cash, securities worth crores

ED Nets Big in Pan-India Mahadev Betting App Raid

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a multi-city crackdown on April 16, targeting the Mahadev online book betting app. Simultaneous searches unfolded across Delhi, Mumbai, Indore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, and Sambalpur (Odisha).

The operation, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, yielded significant seizures. Details regarding the exact nature and value of the seized assets are yet to be officially disclosed.

Sources within the ED confirmed the extensive nature of the investigation, indicating a wide-ranging network linked to the illegal betting operation. The agency is expected to release a detailed statement in due course.

This major operation highlights the ED’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal online gambling and the associated financial crimes plaguing the nation. The implications for the burgeoning online betting market and its regulatory framework are significant and warrant close observation.
