CISF Takes Wing: Secures Mizoram’s Lengpui Airport
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will officially take over the security of Lengpui Airport in Mizoram on April 24, 2025. This marks a significant expansion for the CISF, adding its 69th civil airport to its nationwide security portfolio since 2000. It also represents the force’s first deployment in the state.
A senior CISF official confirmed the development. Joint security operations with the Mizoram Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have already commenced in preparation for the handover.
This strategic move strengthens aviation security in the Northeast. The CISF’s expertise in handling airport security will enhance safety and bolster confidence for air travellers using Lengpui Airport. The seamless transition, facilitated by collaborative efforts with local and central forces, underscores a commitment to maintaining a secure and efficient air travel ecosystem in the region. The deployment also highlights the growing importance of air connectivity in Mizoram’s development.
