Rohtak’s PGIMS: One-Month Free Medicines for OPD Patients

Pt BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, has announced a major policy change offering significant relief to thousands of outpatients. The institute will now provide a full month’s supply of free medicines at once.

This replaces the previous system where patients received only 3-4 days worth of medication, causing repeated visits and inconvenience. The revised policy, implemented on March 31, 2025, aims to improve patient care and reduce the burden on both patients and the hospital.

The new system is expected to ease the financial strain on many patients, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, who previously struggled to afford repeat trips to the hospital for refills.

This move by PGIMS is a welcome step towards enhancing healthcare accessibility and affordability in the region, setting a positive example for other medical institutions across the state and the nation to follow suit. The impact on patient compliance with medication regimens is also expected to be positive.
