Sikhya Kranti or Shiksha Vyang? AAP’s Education Overhaul Ignores Teachers
The Aam Aadmi Party government’s ambitious “Sikhya Kranti” initiative, launched with much fanfare and crores of rupees earmarked for upgrading state-run schools, has seemingly overlooked a crucial element: the teachers. The program, inaugurated on March 31, 2025, boasts of a revolutionary overhaul of the education system.
However, a significant oversight has emerged. Approximately 1,000 primary school teachers remain unpaid, highlighting a glaring gap between the government’s ambitious plans and the ground reality.
This raises serious questions about the efficacy of the “Sikhya Kranti” and its long-term impact. Are crores being spent on infrastructure while the very foundation of education – the teachers – are neglected?
The issue underscores the need for a holistic approach to educational reform, one that prioritizes not just infrastructure and technology, but also the welfare and compensation of the teaching staff. The future of Delhi’s children hinges on addressing this disparity immediately.
