Pakistani Oil Tankers Hijacked Near Afghan Border: Seven Crew Abducted

Three oil tankers were hijacked by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the North Waziristan border on July 8, 2025. Seven crew members were abducted during the incident.

Police have registered a case and launched a search operation to locate the tankers and the abducted crew. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the hijacking, nor have any ransom demands been made.

The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Pakistan’s border regions, particularly the porous border with Afghanistan. The potential impact on oil supplies and the safety of transport workers in the region are significant concerns. This brazen act underscores the need for enhanced security measures along the volatile border areas.
