ICMR Fuels Medical Innovation: Rs 200 Crore Boost for 27 Cutting-Edge Devices

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has injected over Rs 200 crore into the development of 27 novel medical devices in the past two years. These devices are currently undergoing trials or have received regulatory approvals.

The funding extends beyond mere financial support. ICMR is establishing Centers of Excellence to nurture research and development. Grants of up to Rs 8 crore are available for pioneering, “first-in-world” medical advancements.

Furthermore, the program includes PhD scholarships for physicians, strengthening the research talent pool and ensuring long-term sustainability.
