Punjab to Boost Special Needs Education: 3,600 Educators on the Way
Punjab is set to significantly bolster its special education infrastructure. The state cabinet has approved the recruitment of 3,600 special educators for government schools. This move aims to address the critical shortage of trained professionals catering to students with special needs.
Currently, only 386 contract-based special educators serve the state’s large student population requiring specialized assistance. The new appointments will fill existing vacant teacher positions, strengthening the educational system.
Beyond this crucial initiative, the cabinet also green-lit the establishment of two new private universities in the state. This expansion of higher education options is expected to broaden access for students across Punjab.
This significant investment in both special and higher education reflects the state government’s commitment to inclusive and comprehensive learning opportunities for all. The impact of these initiatives will be felt across generations, shaping a more equitable future for Punjab’s youth.
