Monsoon Fury: 15 River Sites Flood-Alert, CWC Issues 35 Dam Forecasts
Four river monitoring sites in Assam, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra faced severe flooding on July 8, 2025. Eleven more sites across various states reported water levels exceeding warning marks.
The Central Water Commission (CWC) proactively issued 35 inflow forecasts for dams and barrages nationwide. Importantly, however, no location surpassed previous historical flood peaks.
While the situation remains concerning, the CWC’s preparedness and the absence of record-breaking floods offer some relief. This underscores the importance of timely flood forecasting in mitigating monsoon-related damage and safeguarding lives and property. The government’s continued investment in early warning systems is crucial for future preparedness.
