Oli Surveys Bhotekoshi Devastation: 7 Dead, 18 Missing in Rasuwa Floods

Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the flood-ravaged Rasuwa district on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, following the catastrophic Bhotekoshi River flood. The disaster has claimed seven lives and left eighteen others missing.

The Prime Minister personally assessed the extent of the damage caused by the surging river. He met with rescue teams engaged in the ongoing search and rescue operations.

Oli urged authorities to expedite relief efforts and ensure the swift delivery of aid to the affected population. He stressed the urgency of providing shelter and essential supplies to those displaced.

Key infrastructure has been severely impacted. A crucial bridge and a section of the highway have been damaged, disrupting connectivity and hampering relief operations. Fifty-five people have been rescued so far.

The scale of destruction underscores the vulnerability of Himalayan communities to extreme weather events. The incident highlights the pressing need for improved disaster preparedness and infrastructure resilience in the region, especially given the increasing frequency of such calamities.
