Kanwariyas’ Onion Outrage: Highway Dhaba Vandalized, Peace Restored
A group of Kanwariyas engaged in a disruptive protest on the Delhi-Haridwar highway on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Their anger stemmed from the presence of onions in the food served at a roadside dhaba.
The pilgrims reacted aggressively, vandalizing the eatery. Police swiftly intervened to de-escalate the situation and restore order.
No formal complaint was lodged with the authorities, and consequently, no police case was registered. The Kanwariyas, after the intervention, continued their pilgrimage.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by businesses catering to religious pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra. The need for clear communication and understanding of dietary restrictions, particularly during large-scale religious events, is paramount to avoid such disruptions and maintain public order.
