Gurugram Cracks Down: ANPR Cameras to Nab Traffic Violators
Gurugram traffic police have deployed Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at fifteen key locations along the National Highway 48 and Dwarka Expressway. These advanced cameras will begin enforcing traffic rules from July 10, 2025.
The initiative aims to curb a range of violations, including speeding, failure to wear seatbelts or helmets, and the use of prohibited vehicles. The system will capture crucial evidence for prosecution.
Beyond enforcement, the ANPR cameras offer real-time data on traffic incidents, enabling quicker response times and improved traffic management. This data-driven approach is expected to enhance road safety significantly.
This technologically advanced crackdown is a significant step towards improving road safety in Gurugram, a city grappling with increasing traffic congestion and related accidents. The effectiveness of this system will be closely monitored and could serve as a model for other Indian cities facing similar challenges.
