Delhi’s Water Woes: LG, Minister Inspect Solutions
Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj jointly inspected several projects aimed at mitigating the city’s persistent waterlogging and wastewater management challenges on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The inspection began at ITO, where officials showcased upgraded drainage systems designed to prevent the annual monsoon waterlogging that cripples the city’s infrastructure and daily life. The improvements are part of a larger initiative to bolster Delhi’s drainage capacity.
Next, the LG and Minister visited Sadbhavana Park to observe a newly commissioned Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). This STP is noteworthy for its innovative reuse of treated wastewater for park irrigation. This initiative exemplifies sustainable water management practices.
The joint inspection highlights the Delhi government’s concerted efforts to address critical water infrastructure deficits. The success of these projects will significantly impact the lives of millions of Delhi residents, particularly during the monsoon season, and offers a model for other water-stressed urban centres across India.
