IMD’s Tricity Rain Forecasts Miss the Mark; Yellow Alert Remains
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has faced criticism for its inaccurate heavy rain predictions for the tricity region. Instead of the anticipated downpour, only light drizzle was experienced.
Despite the flawed forecast, a yellow alert remains in place for Wednesday and Thursday, July 9th and 10th, 2025. Temperatures have shown little change.
However, humidity levels have risen significantly. The IMD predicts thunderstorms with rain continuing until July 13, 2025.
This discrepancy in forecasting raises concerns about the reliability of weather predictions, especially crucial for farmers, businesses, and daily commuters planning their activities based on these alerts. The accuracy of weather forecasts directly impacts preparedness for potential disruptions and the overall economic impact of weather events.
