Dharamsala-McLeod Ganj Road: Crumbling Infrastructure, Rs 17 Crore Repair Needed

Heavy rains have triggered a fresh collapse of a crucial section of the Dharamsala-McLeod Ganj road, posing serious risks to commuters. The road has been repeatedly repaired, yet continues to deteriorate.

The persistent damage highlights a critical infrastructure failure. A lack of adequate drainage systems is cited as a major contributing factor, undermining even regular maintenance efforts.

IIT Mumbai has proposed a comprehensive Rs 17 crore solution to permanently address the problem. However, the project requires federal funding for implementation.

The delay in securing funds and implementing the IIT Mumbai plan leaves the vital road vulnerable to further damage and poses a significant threat to local residents and the crucial tourism sector. The state government’s prompt action in securing the necessary funds is crucial for ensuring the safety and economic well-being of the region.
