Ghazipur Landfill: MCD Seeks Private Partner for Waste-to-Energy Plant
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is inviting private developers to participate in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for a much-needed waste-to-energy plant at the overflowing Ghazipur landfill site. This ambitious project aims to address the city’s mounting garbage crisis and aligns with the Solid Waste Management Rules.
The deadline for submitting bids is set for August 18, 2025. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 29, 2025, to clarify queries and facilitate participation.
Interested parties are required to submit a fee of ₹1 lakh along with the necessary bid security. This crucial step aims to ensure the seriousness and financial capability of potential partners.
The successful execution of this project holds immense significance for Delhi’s environmental health and overall cleanliness. The transformation of mountains of waste into usable energy represents a significant step towards a cleaner, more sustainable future for the capital. The outcome will be closely watched, not just in Delhi, but across India, as other municipalities grapple with similar challenges.
