Karnal Corp Cracks Down: Rs 73 Lakh Property Tax Recovery in Single Day

The Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) on July 10, 2025, took decisive action against property tax defaulters, recovering a significant amount in a single day. Six properties were sealed for outstanding dues totaling Rs 26.83 lakh.

This stern action followed the issuance of notices under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act. The KMC had warned of such measures for persistent non-payment.

Facing imminent sealing, eight other property owners promptly settled their outstanding dues, paying a combined Rs 47.03 lakh on the spot. This brought the total recovery for the day to a substantial Rs 73.86 lakh.

The KMC’s drive aims to bolster its coffers for crucial city infrastructure development projects. This assertive approach underscores the corporation’s commitment to improving civic amenities and ensuring timely tax collection. The move is likely to serve as a strong warning to other defaulters across the city.
