Lawrence Bishnoi to be brought back to serve time in Punjab jail: Bhagwant Mann

Mann’s Gambit: Bishnoi Transfer & BJP Accusations Rock Punjab Politics

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced plans to transfer notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to a jail within the state. This move, announced on July 11, 2025, follows Mann’s sharp criticism of the BJP for allegedly shielding Bishnoi’s criminal network.

Mann levelled serious accusations against the BJP, claiming they are providing protection to Bishnoi and his gang. He further demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

The Chief Minister extended his criticism to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning recent foreign policy decisions. He linked these decisions to the business interests of industrialist Gautam Adani.

Mann also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent foreign trips, suggesting they lacked strategic value and raised questions about their effectiveness.

This high-stakes political manoeuvre comes at a crucial time for Punjab, with law and order a key concern for the state government. The success of Mann’s plan to bring Bishnoi to Punjab and the subsequent investigations will significantly impact the upcoming political landscape.
