Himachal Seeks Forest Land for Disaster Victims: One-Time Settlement on Cards

Himachal Pradesh will approach the Centre for permission to resettle victims of recent devastating natural calamities on forest land. The state government is formulating a comprehensive one-time settlement policy to address the issue.

A special relief package is also in the pipeline, aimed at providing comprehensive support to those affected. An immediate relief fund of Rs 7 crore has already been announced.

The initial focus is on a thorough damage assessment across the affected areas. Road restoration work is underway alongside efforts to provide compensation for losses incurred.

This move is crucial for the long-term rehabilitation of thousands affected by the unprecedented destruction, ensuring they can rebuild their lives and livelihoods. The success of this initiative will set a precedent for future disaster management in the state and potentially across the nation.
