High Court Orders Probe into Haryana Power Firms’ Hiring

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has initiated an inquiry into the recruitment process of lower division clerks at Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVNL) and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVNL).

The court raised concerns over discrepancies in the communication methods used to inform candidates about their selection. While some received their appointment letters via personal messengers, others relied on registered post.

This disparity, the court noted, resulted in a significant variation in the joining rates of selected candidates, prompting suspicions of irregularities.

The inquiry will investigate the selection process to determine if any unfair practices were employed. The outcome will have significant implications for transparency and fairness in government hiring across the state. This case underscores the need for robust and equitable recruitment procedures in public sector undertakings.
