HP Hotels Row: Bali Demands Reconsideration, Flags Profit Potential
Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) Chairman, Mr. Bali, has urged the state government to reconsider its decision to hand over 14 of its hotels for operation and maintenance. He voiced his concerns on July 11, 2025.
Mr. Bali contends that these properties hold significant profit potential, provided necessary renovations and a feasibility study are undertaken. He believes a thorough assessment is crucial before any transfer.
The Chairman proposed a phased approach. If, after renovation and improved management, profitability remains elusive, then leasing the hotels could be considered.
This decision impacts not only HPTDC’s financial health but also the state’s tourism sector. The potential loss of these assets could significantly hinder Himachal Pradesh’s tourism growth and employment opportunities in the coming years.
