Russian Mother, Children Found Meditating in Indian Cave After Years in Seclusion
A Russian national, Nina Kutina, and her two children were rescued from a cave in an Indian forest on July 12, 2025. Police discovered the family after spotting clothing near the cave entrance.
Kutina, drawn to Hinduism, had been living in seclusion, reportedly practicing meditation for several years. The family’s remote lifestyle went unnoticed until the recent police discovery.
Her visa expired in 2017, leading to the initiation of deportation proceedings. Authorities are currently working on the necessary paperwork.
The incident highlights the increasing number of foreign nationals seeking spiritual solace in India’s remote areas. Concerns regarding visa compliance and the safety of individuals choosing such isolated lifestyles remain.
