Sirsa Court Hands 14-Year Sentence in Heinous Child Rape Case

A Sirsa court on Friday, July 11, 2025, delivered a 14-year prison sentence to Jaj Ram, 25, for the rape, kidnapping, and abetment of suicide of a minor. The horrific crimes took place in 2021.

The court found Ram guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including charges related to rape and kidnapping. He was also convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Evidence presented included details of a sexual assault at a hotel, further highlighting the depravity of the crime. The sentences for the various charges will run concurrently.

This stringent punishment sends a strong message against crimes against children. The case underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting minors and enhancing support systems for victims.
