Cyber Fraudsters Netted: Chandigarh Police Crack Down on RBI Impersonation, ATM Theft
Chandigarh Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in cracking down on two separate cyber fraud cases. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with these incidents, which involved sophisticated methods of deception.
The first case involved a cunning scheme to impersonate Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials. The fraudsters managed to swindle Rs 34.2 lakh from unsuspecting victims.
The second case involved unauthorized withdrawals from ATM accounts, resulting in a loss of Rs 2 lakh. The meticulous investigation led to arrests across various locations.
Arrests were made in Chandigarh, West Bengal, and Kolkata, highlighting the trans-state nature of these cybercrimes. The police are currently investigating the extent of the networks involved.
This successful operation serves as a stark reminder of the growing threat of cybercrime and the need for heightened vigilance among citizens. Financial institutions must also strengthen their security protocols to safeguard customer accounts against such sophisticated attacks.
