Despite unfinished projects, BDA plans new urban estates

Bathinda Development Authority Faces Scrutiny: 1000+ Acres Grab Amidst Unfinished Projects

The Bathinda Development Authority (BDA) plans to acquire over 1,000 acres of land, even as several of its existing projects remain severely underdeveloped. This has raised concerns amongst residents and experts alike.

Projects in Abohar, Malout, Muktsar, and even within Bathinda city itself are facing significant delays. Many plots were allotted years ago, yet crucial infrastructure and basic amenities remain incomplete.

The BDA attributes these delays to shortcomings in past project schemes. However, critics argue this explanation is insufficient, highlighting a lack of accountability and efficient project management.

This ambitious land acquisition, coupled with the unfinished projects, raises questions about the BDA’s priorities and its capacity to handle large-scale development. The lack of transparency and apparent disregard for existing commitments could severely impact public trust and hinder future development initiatives in the region. The Punjab government needs to intervene and ensure accountability to prevent further mismanagement of public resources.
