Patiala Diarrhea Outbreak: Four Dead, Minister Assures Control
A severe diarrhea outbreak in Alipur Araian village, Patiala district, has claimed four lives and affected 138 others. The situation unfolded rapidly, causing significant concern among villagers.
The state Health Minister visited the affected area on July 12, 2025, to assess the situation firsthand. Initial tests conducted on the village’s water supply indicated safe chlorine levels.
Despite the positive test results, the Minister advised residents to continue precautionary measures. He urged them to consume only boiled water or water treated with chlorine tablets, and to rely on water tankers for drinking purposes until the situation is fully stabilized.
Permanent medical teams have been deployed to the village to provide ongoing care and monitor the situation closely. While the immediate crisis appears to be under control, the incident highlights the vulnerability of rural communities to waterborne diseases and the urgent need for improved sanitation infrastructure across the state.
