Amritsar Police Net ISI-Linked Smuggling Ring, Avert Gang War
Amritsar police have dealt a significant blow to cross-border crime, arresting five individuals allegedly connected to a Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) module. The arrests, made on July 27, 2025, prevented what could have been a major escalation of gang violence.
A substantial cache of weapons and narcotics was seized during the operation. This included an assault rifle, several pistols, a large quantity of ammunition, and a considerable sum of money suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking. Several vehicles used in the operation were also confiscated.
The consignment, police believe, was destined for a known gangster’s associate in the region. This suggests a deliberate attempt to fuel ongoing gang rivalries and destabilize the area.
The timely intervention by Amritsar police has undoubtedly prevented a potential bloodbath. The arrests underscore the persistent threat of cross-border smuggling and its links to organized crime, highlighting the need for continued vigilance along the India-Pakistan border. This case serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges facing Punjab and the nation.
