Oxygen Plant Failure Kills Three at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital
Three patients dependent on ventilators tragically succumbed at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on July 27, 2025, following an oxygen supply disruption. A technical malfunction at the hospital’s oxygen plant is cited as the cause.
The victims included a snakebite patient, an individual suffering from a drug overdose, and a tuberculosis patient. All three were critically ill and reliant on continuous oxygen support.
A nine-member committee has been constituted to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine the exact nature of the technical failure. The committee’s findings are awaited with bated breath.
This incident raises serious concerns about the reliability of medical infrastructure in even major hospitals. The investigation must not only pinpoint the cause but also recommend measures to prevent such life-threatening failures in the future, ensuring patient safety across the state’s healthcare system.
