Punjab’s War on Drugs: New Curriculum to Empower 8 Lakh Students
Punjab is set to launch a comprehensive anti-drug curriculum in its schools, targeting 800,000 students from classes IX to XII. The initiative, a collaboration with J-PAL South Asia, aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to resist drug abuse.
The program, incorporating interactive sessions, will be rolled out across 3,658 schools starting August 1, 2025. This marks a significant step in the state’s ongoing battle against the pervasive drug menace.
This ambitious project, developed with the expertise of J-PAL South Asia, promises a multi-pronged approach to tackling the issue at its roots. The interactive sessions are designed to be engaging and impactful for the targeted age group.
The success of this initiative will be crucial in shaping the future generation and curbing the alarming rise of drug abuse in Punjab. Its impact will be keenly observed by other states grappling with similar challenges, offering a potential blueprint for effective drug prevention strategies.
