Delhi MCD Gears Up for Monsoon: War on Waterborne Diseases
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is launching a comprehensive campaign to combat the surge in monsoon-related diseases expected in the coming weeks. The initiative focuses on three key areas: bolstering hospital capacity, raising public awareness, and intensifying anti-mosquito drives.
Three major Delhi hospitals have been designated as dedicated centres for treating patients suffering from mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue and malaria. This proactive step aims to ensure timely and efficient treatment for affected citizens.
To prevent the spread of cholera, the MCD is distributing chlorine tablets and Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) packets across vulnerable areas. Public health officials are actively engaged in educating communities on preventive measures.
The MCD is urging all Delhi residents to cooperate fully. Maintaining personal and community hygiene is crucial. Citizens are also requested to promptly report any symptoms suggestive of waterborne or vector-borne diseases to the nearest health centre.
This proactive approach by the MCD is vital, given Delhi’s vulnerability to monsoon-related health crises. The success of this campaign hinges on the active participation of every citizen in ensuring a healthy and disease-free monsoon season. The timely response is critical to minimise the impact on public health and prevent a potential health emergency.
