Kerala BJP Demands Nuns’ Release, Slams Chhattisgarh CM
The BJP in Kerala has sharply criticised Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s justification for the arrest of three nuns in the state on July 27, 2025. The party vehemently denies any involvement of the nuns in human trafficking or religious conversion activities.
A high-level BJP delegation is currently in Chhattisgarh to investigate the matter and press for the immediate release of the nuns. The party is demanding a thorough and transparent inquiry into the arrests.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala also visited Chhattisgarh to express solidarity with the arrested nuns. The UDF echoed the BJP’s concerns regarding the arrests.
Kerala’s church leaders have strongly condemned the arrests, raising serious concerns about the implications for religious freedom in the country. They are demanding a fair and impartial investigation.
The incident has sparked a major political row, highlighting the growing tensions between states over religious freedom and law enforcement practices. The outcome of this case will have significant ramifications for inter-state relations and the protection of religious minorities.
