PLA Jets Breach Taiwan’s Airspace: Tensions Soar in Strait
The Ministry of National Defence (MND) in Taipei reported a significant escalation in tensions across the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. A large-scale incursion by People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) aircraft was detected.
According to the MND, a total of three sorties of PLAAF jets crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait.
These aircraft then proceeded to enter Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ).
The incursion marks a notable increase in PLAAF activity near Taiwan and is viewed as a provocative action.
This incident follows a pattern of escalating military maneuvers by China near the island nation, raising serious concerns about regional stability.
Experts warn that such actions could further destabilize the already fragile geopolitical situation in the Indo-Pacific region and have significant implications for India’s strategic interests in the area. The incident underscores the urgent need for diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions and prevent further conflict.
