Chandigarh Golf Club Ditches Jeev’s Invite, Crowns Trident Open with ₹1 Crore Prize

The Chandigarh Golf Club will not host the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational for a second consecutive year. Sponsorship woes have forced the club to make this decision.

Instead, the club will play host to the inaugural Trident Open Golf Championship. This new tournament boasts a lucrative ₹1 crore prize purse.

The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) unveiled its second-half schedule on July 29, 2025. This schedule includes 15 events with a total prize money boosted to ₹3.15 crore.

This shift highlights the evolving dynamics of professional golf sponsorship in India. The absence of the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational, a tournament previously popular among golf enthusiasts, signals a potential need for fresh strategies to attract sponsors and ensure the continued growth of the sport. The success of the Trident Open will be a key indicator of these changing trends.
