Tiger Reserves Get a Green Boost: Yadav Launches Massive Plantation Drive
Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on July 29, 2025, launched a significant initiative to bolster India’s tiger conservation efforts. The drive involved planting over one lakh saplings across 58 tiger reserves nationwide.
This ambitious project aims to restore and enhance the natural habitats crucial for tiger survival and overall ecosystem health. The initiative also includes a focus on biodiversity and habitat regeneration.
Simultaneously, Mr. Yadav unveiled a “Plastic-Free Tiger Reserves” campaign. This aims to eliminate plastic pollution from these vital sanctuaries. The move underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices.
Adding to the positive developments, 24 nations joined the International Big Cat Alliance on the same day. This signifies a growing global commitment to protecting big cats.
Furthermore, several publications on wildlife conservation were released, furthering knowledge and awareness in the field. These publications will serve as valuable resources for researchers, conservationists, and policymakers.
The combined impact of these initiatives underscores India’s proactive role in global wildlife conservation. The success of these programs will be crucial in ensuring the long-term survival of India’s magnificent tiger population and the preservation of its biodiversity for future generations.
