Rohtak Farmers’ Cry: Waterlogged Fields, Parched Crops

Rohtak district farmers are grappling with a severe water crisis, a stark contrast of plenty and scarcity playing out across their fields. While some areas battle waterlogging, others face acute irrigation shortages.

This duality stems from recent cuts in canal water supply, triggering protests from affected farmers on July 29, 2025. The inconsistent water distribution has left many crops vulnerable.

The district administration has swung into action, initiating drainage efforts in waterlogged fields and promising to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for irrigation pumps.

However, the long-term solution needs a comprehensive review of the irrigation system’s efficiency and equitable water distribution, a crucial issue given Haryana’s agrarian economy and the vulnerability of its farming community to water stress. The timely resolution of this crisis will be vital for the upcoming harvest.
