Cabinet Boost for Farmers: Rs 1920 Crore Infusion in Kisan Sampada Yojana

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar today welcomed the government’s decision to significantly increase funding for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY).

The Union Cabinet approved an additional Rs 1,920 crore for the scheme, taking the total allocation to Rs 6,520 crore.

This substantial increase will bolster food processing infrastructure across the country. The funds will support the creation of crucial facilities such as food irradiation units and advanced testing laboratories.

Jaishankar highlighted the scheme’s importance in mitigating post-harvest losses, a significant challenge for Indian farmers. This will directly benefit millions of cultivators.

The enhanced PMKSY funding is a timely intervention, promising to improve the livelihoods of farmers and contribute to India’s food security goals. The impact on reducing agricultural waste and boosting rural economies will be closely watched.
