Chip Revolution: Govt Backs 23 Homegrown Designs

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has given a major boost to India’s semiconductor ambitions. On July 31, 2025, it announced financial backing for 23 chip design projects under its Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.

This significant investment aims to nurture homegrown talent and foster innovation in the crucial chip design sector. The selected projects represent a diverse range of applications, reflecting the government’s commitment to a broad-based technological advancement.

The DLI scheme is a cornerstone of India’s strategy to become a global semiconductor hub. This latest round of funding underscores the government’s dedication to building a robust and self-reliant domestic ecosystem.

This move is expected to create high-skilled jobs and attract further investment in the sector, strengthening India’s position in the global technology landscape. The success of these projects will be crucial for India’s digital future and its efforts to achieve technological self-reliance.
