Modi Govt’s “TOP” Priorities Overshadowed by “CAP” Crisis: Ramesh

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of prioritizing domestic concerns over crucial foreign policy challenges. Ramesh contrasted the government’s focus on managing rising prices of Tomatoes, Onions, and Potatoes (“TOP”) with the escalating geopolitical tensions with China, America, and Pakistan (“CAP”).

He argued that the government’s handling of international relations, particularly with the US under the Trump administration, had been severely lacking. Ramesh pointed to the imposition of tariffs and sanctions by the Trump administration as evidence of a strained relationship.

The Congress leader further highlighted the perceived support extended to Pakistan by the former US administration, alleging that this negatively impacted India’s strategic interests. He questioned the government’s approach to managing these complex relationships.

Ramesh’s statement comes at a time of heightened global uncertainty and underscores the ongoing debate within India regarding the government’s foreign policy strategy. The implications of strained relations with major global powers could significantly impact India’s economic growth and national security, demanding a comprehensive and proactive approach from the government.
