HTET Chaos: Rohtak Floods Leave Aspirants Stranded, Pregnant Woman Injured
Torrential rain lashed Rohtak on Thursday, July 31, 2025, throwing the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) into disarray. Severe waterlogging engulfed several parts of the city, making it extremely difficult for many candidates to reach their examination centres.
The situation was particularly dire near flood-prone areas such as Baba Mastnath School. Heavy congestion and traffic jams were reported as aspirants struggled through knee-deep water.
Adding to the chaos, a pregnant woman reportedly fell into an uncovered sewer, highlighting the inadequate infrastructure in some areas. This incident sparked outrage among candidates and local residents alike.
Municipal authorities scrambled to manage the overflowing drains and clear the waterlogged roads. However, their efforts appeared inadequate to address the immediate crisis faced by the HTET candidates.
This incident underscores the urgent need for better urban planning and infrastructure development in Rohtak, particularly in addressing issues of water drainage and public safety, especially during the monsoon season. The administration must ensure such incidents do not recur during future crucial examinations.
