India Launches Ambitious UN SDG Partnership
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s September 2023 announcement at the UN General Assembly in New York, ushered in a significant initiative: a collaborative partnership between India and the United Nations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the UN team in India have since been diligently working together. Their focus: identifying and meticulously planning SDG-centric projects under this ambitious programme.
This collaboration marks a crucial step in India’s commitment to global development. The projects, once implemented, are expected to have a profound impact on several key areas, demonstrating India’s growing influence on the world stage.
The success of this partnership will not only benefit India but also serve as a model for other nations seeking to contribute effectively to the achievement of the SDGs by 2030. The coming months will be crucial in seeing these plans translate into tangible progress on the ground.
