Jiribam Killings: NIA Nets Key Conspirator in Assam
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the horrific Jiribam killings of 2024. Thanglienlal Hmar, also known as Boya, was apprehended in Assam on July 31, 2025.
Six innocent lives, including children, were tragically lost in Manipur last year. Their bodies were later discovered in the Barak River.
Boya’s arrest marks a crucial development, with the NIA classifying him as a key conspirator in the gruesome murders. A mobile phone was recovered during the arrest, potentially providing vital evidence.
The NIA investigation is ongoing, with the recovered evidence expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the killings and the identities of other potential perpetrators. This arrest offers a glimmer of hope for justice to the victims’ families and underscores the NIA’s commitment to bringing those responsible to account. The incident highlights the urgent need for strengthened security measures in the region to prevent such atrocities from recurring.
