Punjab’s War on Drugs: New Curriculum Targets Young Minds

Punjab has launched a comprehensive anti-drug curriculum for students in classes IX to XII across all state-run schools. The initiative, rolled out on August 1, 2025, aims to equip young minds with the knowledge and skills to resist the lure of substance abuse.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have jointly accused opposition parties of shielding drug traffickers and actively aiding the drug trade within the state. They allege this complicity undermines efforts to curb the growing drug menace.

The curriculum, developed by education experts and anti-drug specialists, will soon be extended to private schools and colleges across Punjab. It will incorporate interactive sessions, awareness campaigns, and counselling services.

This proactive step reflects the state government’s determination to tackle the drug problem at its roots. The success of this initiative will depend on consistent implementation and community involvement, offering a beacon of hope in the fight against this pervasive social ill. The long-term impact on Punjab’s youth and the state’s overall well-being will be keenly observed.
