Manimajra Auto Thieves Nabbed: Drug Addiction Fuels Crime Spree
Chandigarh Police have apprehended Mohammad Salman and Mukesh Kumar in connection with a series of vehicle thefts in Manimajra. The arrests, made on July 31, 2025, followed a thorough investigation into multiple complaints.
Three motorcycles – a Bajaj Pulsar, a Hero Splendor, and a TVS Raider – were recovered. Police sources indicate the stolen vehicles were likely to be sold to fund the duo’s drug habit.
The accused are facing serious charges beyond vehicle theft. Preliminary investigations suggest involvement in arson and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Both Salman and Kumar have been remanded to judicial custody. The case highlights the growing nexus between drug abuse and escalating crime rates in the region, demanding urgent attention from authorities and social welfare organizations.
