AIIMS Celebrates Unsung Heroes: 24 Families Honoured for Gift of Life

AIIMS New Delhi, on August 1, 2025, paid tribute to 24 families whose selfless decisions transformed lives. The ceremony, organised by the Organ Retrieval Banking Organisation (ORBO), recognised the invaluable contributions of organ donors.

Among those honoured were the families of Gopal Singh, Prabha Johar, and Anish Banerjee. Their acts of extraordinary compassion were highlighted as shining examples of humanity.

The event, coinciding with Indian Organ Donation Day, aimed to inspire a new generation of donors. A particular focus was placed on encouraging youth participation in this life-saving initiative.

The initiative underscores the critical need for increased organ donation in India. The families’ courage serves as a powerful reminder of the profound impact this act of generosity can have on countless lives. This national recognition is crucial to fostering a culture of organ donation across the country.
