Delhi Fights Filth: Mega Clean-Up Kicks Off
Delhi launched a month-long cleanliness drive, “Delhi Ko Koode Se Azaadi,” on August 1, 2025. Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Mission, the initiative aims to rid the city of its mounting garbage problem.
The ambitious project encompasses a wide range of areas. Government offices, unauthorized colonies, the Yamuna Ghat, and even the Ring Road are all targeted for intensive cleaning.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) are spearheading the effort. Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) are actively involved and stand to win awards for their participation.
This initiative is crucial given Delhi’s ongoing struggle with waste management. The success of “Delhi Ko Koode Se Azaadi” will directly impact public health and the city’s overall image, setting a benchmark for other urban centres grappling with similar challenges.
