Eight New ICACs Boost US-India Consular Services
The Indian government has significantly expanded its consular reach in the United States, with the inauguration of eight new Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs). These new centres, located in Boston, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Edison, Orlando, Raleigh, and San Jose, bring the total number of ICACs nationwide to sixteen.
This expansion aims to streamline visa and passport services for the large Indian diaspora in the US. The move is expected to reduce processing times and alleviate congestion at existing centres.
A seventeenth ICAC is slated to open in Los Angeles later this month, further enhancing access to consular services.
This significant expansion underscores the growing importance of the Indian-American community and the strengthening bilateral ties between India and the United States. The improved access to consular services will undoubtedly benefit thousands of Indian citizens living and working across America, simplifying crucial administrative processes and strengthening community engagement.
