India’s Badminton Hopes Dashed in Macau Semis

Lakshya Sen’s Macau Open campaign ended in disappointment on Saturday, August 2, 2025, after a semi-final defeat against Alwi Farhan. Inconsistent play hampered Sen’s performance, preventing him from advancing to the final.

Tharun Mannepalli also bowed out in the semi-finals, losing a closely contested three-game match to Justin Hoh. Despite a promising start, Mannepalli couldn’t maintain the momentum.

The losses mark a setback for Indian badminton, highlighting the need for consistent performance at the highest level. Both players will need to regroup and refocus their training ahead of upcoming tournaments, if they are to challenge for top honours on the international stage. The results raise concerns about India’s preparedness for major international competitions.
