Kurukshetra Gets Tech Shield: 100+ CCTV Cameras to Guard Sacred Lakes
A comprehensive security upgrade is underway for Kurukshetra’s Brahma Sarovar and Sannihit Sarovar, two significant pilgrimage sites. Over 100 CCTV cameras, equipped with advanced facial recognition technology, will soon be installed around the lakes.
This Rs 2.5 crore project aims to significantly enhance tourist safety and bolster law enforcement in the area. The initiative will replace the temporary camera arrangements frequently used during large religious events.
The new, permanent system will provide continuous, high-quality surveillance, deterring criminal activity and enabling quicker response times to incidents. The face recognition capability will further aid in identifying and apprehending offenders.
The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2025. This technological intervention is a crucial step towards ensuring a safer and more secure environment for pilgrims and visitors to these historically and religiously important sites in Haryana. The move reflects a growing focus on leveraging technology to improve security at prominent religious locations across the country.
