Raghunath’s Royal Robe: Kullu Dasehra Chariot Gets New Attire After 15 Years

The majestic chariot of Lord Raghunath in Kullu is receiving a regal makeover, a process undertaken only once in many years. This year, after a gap of 15 years, the chariot is being re-dressed for the upcoming International Dasehra celebrations.

Over 200 meters of vibrant fabrics are being meticulously stitched into a new attire for the deity. The colours and designs reflect both Lord Raghunath’s preferences and the rich traditions of the Kullu Valley.

This significant task is being carried out by families from Khalogi village. They are upholding a generations-old legacy, their skilled hands ensuring the deity’s chariot is adorned with the utmost care and reverence. The entire process is expected to take a month.

The renewed splendour of Lord Raghunath’s chariot promises to be a highlight of this year’s International Dasehra. This event, drawing tourists from across the globe, showcases the vibrant cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh and its deep-rooted faith. The meticulous craftsmanship involved underscores the enduring importance of traditional arts and the community’s devotion.
