Seraj Flood Recovery: Power Restored to Most Villages, Full Restoration by August 10
Flash floods in Seraj, Himachal Pradesh, left 115 villages without electricity. However, the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEB) has swiftly acted to restore power.
The HPSEB’s dedicated team of 16 officers and 170 labourers worked tirelessly to replace damaged lines, poles, and transformers. Villagers also lent a hand, navigating challenging terrain to assist with the restoration efforts.
Power has already been successfully restored to 107 out of 115 affected villages. The HPSEB aims to complete the restoration for the remaining eight villages by August 10.
The timely intervention follows the release of water from the Larji dam into the Beas River. Prior warnings were issued to affected areas.
This rapid restoration is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the HPSEB and the local community, ensuring a swift return to normalcy for the flood-affected residents of Seraj. The incident highlights the need for proactive disaster preparedness and robust infrastructure in flood-prone regions of the Himalayas.
